M42 - Great Orion Nebula

Great Orion Nebula

Telescope: Takahashi FS-102 @ f/8
Camera: ST-2000XM w/CFW-8
Mount: EM-200 Temma
Exposures: Ha: 3x7min. R: 2x7min. G: 2x7min. B: 2x7min.(all unbinned)
Processing: Images were captured, reduced, and histogram adjusted using CCDSoft v.5. They were aligned and combined with RegiStar. The composite was then adjusted (cropping, Curves, Saturation) in Photoshop 7. A layer mask was used to blend in the core detail from a histogram-shaped image that was created in AIP4WIN (the same exposures were used to create this adjusted image). Some "real" unsharp masking was applied (using Jerry Logriguss' method). Finally, Grain Surgery was used to reduce noise.
Location: My backyard in SE Minnesota.
